Comal Is Temporarily Closed

March 15th, 2020

Effective immediately, Comal will be temporarily closed due to concerns relating to coronavirus spread.  It’s become clear to us that we have an ethical obligation to close.  With inadequate testing available, it’s unknown how broadly the virus has spread in our community; but based on spread patterns from countries such as China, Italy, Spain and France it’s likely that it has spread widely.

We need to be part of the solution, not part of the problem, and that means closing our doors for now.  As you will see from the links below, every day matters.  We expect that we are headed for a full lockdown in the very near future (better) or quite soon (much worse).  We simply can’t be a hub for community transmission, and we will be strongly encouraging our fellow restaurant owners to cease operations immediately as well. This a public health emergency that is unprecedented in our lifetime, and it is incumbent on all of us to take any steps we can take NOW to mitigate further spread.

We look forward to coming back stronger than ever and serving all of you again when this passes.  At this time we don’t have an official re-opening date, but we will share details as they become available.

John, Andrew, Matt, and the Comal team
